The new WAIS High Performance Training Centre for elite athletes formally opened.
Project Managed by NS projects, the WAIS $33.7m High Performance Training Centre was officially opened in April 2015 by Western Australian Premier Colin Barnett and Sports Minister Mia Davies. The centre which is the latest addition to the UWA Sports Park located adjacent to HBF Stadium will provide a world class training venue for Olympic and Paralympic athletes. Completed in time to prepare for next year’s Olympic Games in Rio this facility is considered to be unrivalled in Australia. The facilities include indoor an athletics track, specialist recovery pools, strength and conditioning gym, an environmental chamber which can replicate any venue in the world, athletes recreation area which can double as an altitude hotel, office, meeting and training room accommodation. Cutting edge biometric technology is integrated which allow coaches to maximise their athlete’s potential.
Premier Barnett referred to the centre as “an extraordinary building with extraordinary facilities”.
