Rockingham Hospital Redevelopment

Project Description

The Rockingham General Hospital redevelopment commenced in 2006 and involved the upgrade from a 70-bed facility to a 239-bed facility and incorporation of new departments to address the model of care needed.

Key improvements included a new mental health facility and the doubling of operating theatres from two to four.

The hospitals capacity has now expanded to become one of four general hospitals in the metropolitan area, delivering a comprehensive range of core clinical services to the South Metropolitan Area Health Service.

Our Role

NS Projects was appointed to project manage the consultancy team to redevelop the hospital over a number of stages.

This role required NS Projects to develop a thorough understanding of the current challenges faced within the health sector, including the need to find innovative procurement solutions that bring essential services online within shortened time frames, whilst maintaining the operation of the current hospital.

Key Outcomes

  • Maintained continuous operation of the existing hospital through carefully planned staged approach enabling progressive completion of areas and transfer of departments to the redeveloped areas.
