Project Description

‘Riverside’ comprises 40 hectares of inner city land located at the eastern gateway to the Perth CBD. The project area includes significant public and private landholdings including Gloucester Park, the WACA, Trinity College, Queens Gardens, WA Police Headquarters, the Chemistry Centre of WA, the City of Perth 4A Car park, the former Metrobus Depot and a prime riverfront opportunity located north of the Causeway roundabout (known as Waterbank).

With development occurring over the next 10 to 15 years, the Riverside precinct will create a vibrant and iconic world-class tourist, business and residential destination.

Our Role

NS Projects was appointed to manage the completion of a master plan review, preparation of design guidelines for each precinct and the subsequent delivery of the project, with an initial focus on Waterbank.

NS Projects is providing project management and contract administration services throughout the project for works completed by MRA.

Challenges Overcome

  • Investigating, understanding and responding to the significant environmental and geotechnical constraints of its location adjacent to the Swan River and on reclaimed land.
  • Addressing general environmental and community concerns whilst maintaining key sustainable development outcomes and ensuring that the financial and economic benefits of this exciting project are realised.
  • Managing the diverse expectations and requirements of multiple stakeholder groups including the local council, government agencies, local residents and business.

Key Outcomes

  • Remediation of a currently highly contaminated and geotechnical unstable area of Perth.

  • The development will deliver a world-class, vibrant and iconic tourist, business and residential destination at the eastern gateway to the Perth city centre.
  • An estimated six-fold economic return to the community for every dollar spent creating the Riverside project.
